Wind In The Woolies Fleeces

wool-sheep-fleeces for sale

Welcome to Wind in the Woolies Fleeces!

WITW is located in Montague, California, at the very top of the state. With a small flock of natural-colored Corriedale sheep; we are endeavoring to build up a select spinner's flock. Corriedale wool is an excellent mid-weight fiber. Here at WITW's, we are working on getting fiber that is on the finer end of the Corriedale's usual micron size ( 31.5 to 24.5 microns). Typically, Merino fiber is 20 to 22 microns, good for making lingerie and other next-to-skin items. At the other end of the spectrum, Scottish Blackface sheep have wool that is generally 38 to 28 microns, which is best for rugs, outerwear, and such. So, you can see that Corriedale works well for socks, sweaters, scarves, mittens & gloves, and other items which need strength as well as softness.

We often have coated Corriedale fleeces for sale. In the late summer/early fall we usually have locker lambs and lambs for breeding. If you want a ram (un-neutered male) lamb, let us know the January before you want it.
